Of course, the foods you eat on your ‘off’ days’ or the days where you get to eat normally can play a role in how quickly you lose weight. However, these days are not meant to be calorie restricted and are able to give you a chance to not feel like you are being deprived of the foods you enjoy the most. When fasting for weight loss, you can simply limit your calories on your fasting days, but some experts recommend low-glycemic foods. The number of calories on these days might be quite limited, but there are definitely enough to provide the fuel you need to make it through the day.

Intermittent fasting for weight loss offers another important advantage for those who are trying to shed unwanted pounds. Oftentimes, restrictive weight loss diets that dramatically reduce calories can be very effective, in the beginning; however, over time, these diets tend to plateau and make it difficult to lose any more weight. The reason for this is usually the simple fact that your body has adjusted to consuming fewer calories and your metabolism has slowed to meet this new lowered caloric intake. Unfortunately, with a lowered metabolism, weight loss can creep to a halt. However, when you fast on two separate days throughout the week, then eat normally the other five days, your metabolism is not lowered and weight loss can continue.
